"Good"

July 26, 2023

"I made the appointment with Dr. Sidhu mainly to talk to him about significant struggles with anxiety that I've been having and whether medication may be a valid and reasonable option for me, personally.I did not get the impression that Dr. Sidhu cared about me on a personal level. He did not smile, and it felt like he was just "going through the motions". When I brought up my mental health concerns, I felt like all I was getting from Dr. Sidhu were either surface level "textbook" responses, or telling me that I should go to a psychiatrist. He did not take the time to listen to the specifics of my concerns and give me personalized advice, like I was hoping.Later on, after the appointment was over, I internalized that I probably should've just gone to a psychiatrist to begin with and that Dr. Sidhu (being an internal medicine practitioner) genuinely did not have the training to address what I was looking for. And I do believe that's what he was trying to tell me, not with negative intentions. However, I think it would've gone a long way and made me feel a lot better if Dr. Sidhu had shown some empathy and had genuinely listened to me instead of just trying to get to the end of the appointment.I will not be going back to him, even for routine check-ups, because I deserve to see a doctor who genuinely cares and listens."
