Sara Nichols, CRNP
Sara Nichols, a 2023 graduate of the AHN Nurse Practitioner Residency program, is a compassionate and dedicated Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) with over a decade of nursing experience. After spending her career in the intensive care unit, she transitioned to primary care, where she is committed to keeping her patients healthy and out of the hospital. She achieved this through comprehensive care, including screening, diagnosis, and management of various conditions.
Sara recognizes the importance of understanding the role of a nurse practitioner. She describes her position as a specially trained nurse with a graduate degree, qualified to diagnose and treat medical conditions. She also emphasizes her ability to collaborate closely with physicians when necessary to ensure optimal patient care.
Sara is passionate about providing inclusive and comprehensive care to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. She is a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ individuals and offers comprehensive gender-affirming care, including hormone therapy, referrals for surgical procedures, and mental health support. Sara has experience in treating individuals struggling with addiction and substance use disorders. She is also skilled in performing a variety of minor procedures, such as IUD insertions and removals, skin biopsies, and more.
Sara's philosophy centers around providing compassionate, patient-centered care that caters to the individual needs of each patient. She believes in building strong relationships with her patients and empowering them to make informed decisions about their health. Sara resides in Pittsburgh with her husband, their pit bull Ellie, and cat Nala. In her free time, she enjoys fostering rescue dogs, gardening, skiing, and attending live music events.
