Michael David Lewen, MD, is a board-certified Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal specialist at Allegheny General Hospital within Allegheny Health Network. Dr. Lewen is dedicated to diagnosing and treating complex conditions affecting the retina and vitreous.
Dr. Lewen earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and his Doctor of Medicine from Drexel University College of Medicine (Hahnemann Hospital) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his Internship in the Department of Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital, followed by his Residency in the Department of Ophthalmology at New England Eye Center, Tufts Medical Center, in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Lewen further specialized with a Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, in Boston, Massachusetts. He obtained his Ophthalmology Board Certification in June 2019.
