Donald Whiting serves as the system chair of AHN's Neuroscience Institute and Department of Neurosurgery and holds the Peter J. Jannetta MD Endowed Chair for Neurosurgery. A respected physician-leader, Dr. Whiting is dedicated to improving healthcare delivery and is considered a national authority on deep-brain stimulation (DBS) for managing motor symptoms associated with Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. He has developed Allegheny General Hospital into a leading global center for DBS treatment. During his extensive tenure with AHN, Dr. Whiting has held multiple leadership positions, including Chief Medical Officer and Allegheny Clinic President. He has also served as vice-chair of AGH's Department of Neurosurgery, and co-director of AGH's Division of Functional Neurosurgery and Neurosurgery Spine Bio-Mechanics Lab. Dr. Whiting completed a neurosurgical residency at The Cleveland Clinic and a neurotrauma fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital. He is a professor of Neurosurgery at Drexel University College of Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and an active member of key professional organizations, such as the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He is also involved with the Parkinson Foundation of Western PA and The Cahouet Center for Parkinson's Disease.
