Dr. David Turkewitz is a general pediatrician with expertise in newborn care, care of the hospitalized child, emergency medicine and child abuse and neglect. Dr. Turkewitz is a past president of the Pennsylvania American Academy of Pediatrics. He has served on several statewide child advocacy work groups and committees, and maintains a current appointment to the Pennsylvania Attorney General Advisory Board on Child Abuse.
Dr. Turkewitz has received many awards including: Bela Schick Award for Excellence in Pediatrics, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, 1978; Nettie and Charles Ritter Award, Senior Resident Teacher of the year, 1981; Pediatric Teaching award, Geisinger Medical Center 1985 Family Practice Teaching award, Geisinger Medical Center, 1984 and 1986; Emergency Medicine Teaching Award, Geisinger Medical Center, 1993 American Heart Association Award for local service, 1994; Penn State Child Health Advocacy award, 2008, York Daily Record 2012, People Who Make a Difference; YMCA volunteer of the year 2013; Central Penn Parent's Healthcare Heroes Award, Physician of the Year, 2014; Pennsylvania American Academy of Pediatrics, Pediatrician of the Year Award, 2014.
