Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Burgess diagnoses and treats medical and surgical conditions affecting the bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. He specializes in sports medicine and also treats pain as a result of injury, illness, or disabling conditions.
Dr. Burgess earned his medical degree at West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, where he was president of his medical school class. He later completed his residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Florida. Dr. Burgess gained additional expertise during his orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital.
A member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy Association of North America, Dr. Burgess lectures on common injuries and prevention techniques for gymnastics and soccer athletes, as well as operative and non-operative meniscal injuries. He was previously team physician for the Orlando Predators Arena Football team and East River High School football teams in Orlando.
Dr. Burgess has medical staff privileges at Allegheny General Hospital, Wexford Surgery Center, and Bethel Park Surgery Center. He currently serves as a team physician for the Pittsburgh Pirates and team physician for Hampton High School.
